Help teachers help students excel no matter where the learning is taking place.

For the past five years, FoS has rewarded pioneering educators with funding that’s enabled them to bring programs and tools into the classroom to transform the learning experience.

Present circumstances have left teachers challenged with a lack of tools, knowledge, and infrastructure to sustain their efforts to provide quality remote teaching and learning environments. 

In recent, real-time discussions with educators, we continue to see a need for support such as laptops, broadband access, printers, content kits for online-based instruction. 

Our response is the Remote Learning Relief Fund which offers immediate grants for teachers to get the tools they need to deliver quality instruction that engages all their students no matter where the learning is taking place.

Future of School is transitioning from its founding as a private foundation called the Foundation for Blended and Online Learning (FBOL) to a public charity, Future of School. Until we complete the IRS transition, all charitable cash donations are deductible at up to 30 percent of the taxpayer’s adjusted gross income (AGI).

Resilient Schools Project

Where flexibility is the norm and access and equity are ensured

The Resilient Schools Project brings together administrators to identify common issues, devise a strategic response to near-term disruptions, and think through solutions to long-term challenges. Instead of putting “experts” in front of school leaders, the RSP unites those on the front lines managing multiple challenges to learn from each other and work together to improve efficacy, equity, and access no matter where and how school is done. The first cohort of twelve school districts and schools has already started. At Future of School, we would like your help in supporting more school districts and schools to work together to improve efficacy, equity, and access no matter where and how school is done.

Resilient Districts Prize

Rewarding innovative practices in blended and online learning during COVID-19

At Future of School, we want to recognize those educators and schools who have risen to the challenge to provide students with high-quality educational experiences despite—or perhaps because of—the unique constraints of our times. Rewarding innovative practices in blended and online learning during COVID-19, Districts will be able to apply for the 2021 Future of School Resilient District Prize by sharing their story about how they have innovated their instructional delivery and/or educational environments to support their students. Awards can be used for technology, professional development, training, or other online and blended learning ed-tech-related expenses. At Future of School, we would like your help in supporting more school districts by giving generously to increase the amount given to Districts that win the Resilient District Award.

Community Learning Tech Pods

Expanding access and equity in Charleston County, South Carolina

When Charleston County schools first reopened their doors in September after six long months of coronavirus-mandated online learning, parents were presented with a difficult choice. They could opt to send their children back to the classroom in person and risk them getting infected with a deadly virus, or they could attempt to minimize health and safety risks by having them start the school year from behind a computer screen, isolated from their peers and teachers. The Charleston County School District has launched its own 'learning pods’ to create a way to allow students to learn virtually to have a place to get work done and still have social interaction. Learning pods, also known as pandemic pods, are small groups of students that meet up in a home or larger space. The group is run by an adult who can care for the children and help them with their virtual lessons. At Future of Schools, we support the equity and access that community-based learning pods provide and want to pilot this program in other communities across the country. Please help us by provided financial support for the expansion of community-based learning pods.
